Everyone is building their life on something. The question is whether the foundation we are building on can actually hold the weight of real life.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus introduces the values of the Kingdom of God and invites us into a completely different way of living. In this series through Matthew 5–7, we will explore some of the most challenging and transformative teachings in all of Scripture. Jesus speaks about anger, lust, forgiveness, generosity, prayer, anxiety, judgment, enemies, and obedience—not merely as external behaviours, but as matters of the heart.
The world teaches us to pursue power, comfort, success, and self-promotion. Jesus says blessing belongs to the poor in spirit, the merciful, the peacemakers, and those who hunger for righteousness. The values of God’s Kingdom often feel upside down compared to the culture around us.
These teachings are deeply practical for everyday life. Jesus speaks into the anxiety we carry about the future. He addresses the bitterness and unforgiveness that can quietly take root in relationships. He challenges hypocrisy and empty religion while calling people into authentic faith. He teaches that following Him affects not just church attendance, but how we speak, think, treat others, spend money, and respond to conflict.
At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says:
24 Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. — Matthew 7:24
This series is not about behaviour modification or trying harder to be religious. It is about allowing Jesus to reshape our hearts so that our lives reflect the values of His Kingdom. When we build our lives on Christ, we discover a foundation strong enough to withstand every storm.
